The last 11 months of my life have incited for me a great deal of
intrigue and utter disappointment at some of the information that I
have found & The
origins of the Palestinian-Israeli stand out as the overarching
source of my disappointment. I grew up in
an austere Southern Baptist home in rural North Carolina. So, of course, in
maintaining the status quo of Christian doctrine,
I was taught that the area today now known as Israel was promised to
them by God, therefore the Palestinians were interfering with the
word of God by resisting the erection of an Israeli state.
The blatant obscurantism by the American government and mass
media surrounding this conflict is very
disturbing. If we as Americans would like to find out the truth of
the origins of this conflict the task can sometimes be
overwhelming. CNN, MSNBC and Fox news all claim to give us an
objective and unbiased perspective yet with the exception of a few
true journalists (Phil Donahue and sometimes Chris Matthews), you
seldom find the non-watered
down version of the conflict and our policy regarding it.
Traditionally, we have maintained a foreign policy regarding this
turmoil with essentially a "blank check" for the desires and goals
of the Zionist movement under the auspices of protecting our Israeli
interest.
After the tragic events of 9/11, we as Americans have begun ask
probing and specific questions regarding the Palestinian-Israeli
conflict. The most pertinent of those questions is simply "Why".
Why do Arabs and these Islamic fundamentalist groups hate us so
vehemently. When posed these questions the Bush administration
tells us that these people don't like our democratic lifestyles, or
that they hate our freedoms. That answer satisfies the masses of
people who are unfortunately misinformed about the region however to
the informed mind it is a bunch of malarkey. These extremists
groups could care less about our freedoms more importantly the hate
probably stems from the belief that America is trying to formed a
globalized civilization that conforms to its best interest. I am by
no means condoning or sympathizing with the abhorrent creatures that
pulled off what is perhaps our nation's most tragic event. The
purpose is to understand the real reasons for this anti-American
sentiment that is growing world wide.
I believe the origin of hate directly corresponds with our
coalescing with the Zionist movement which had no intentions of
being a religious or humanitarian movement. Its specific purpose
was based on political and territorial aggression. One can
understand that our intentions were initially good by attempting to
provide a safe haven for Jews around the world after the atrocities
of the Holocaust. However, we facilitated another Holocaust by
allowing the Zionist movement to slaughter and mutilate innocent and
indigenous men, women, and children in there lust for more
territory. That my fellow Americans is the true origin of hate.
