"READ". The first word of
the Holy Qur'an and Islam revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)
followed by "WHO TAUGHT MAN BY THE PEN."
READ and PEN. No greater
foundation for any faith in history was ever blessed with such
truth: Seeking Knowledge of past Truths and Revelations, while
embarking on a journey of Scientific Research that will reveal
to mankind God's creative mastery within the human body, soul,
and universal signs. God demanded of Muslim believers a
submission and worship of Him that arose from intellectual
fervor and reasoning, not blind faith. The Qur'an is replete
with admonitions to the believers to approach and appreciate Qur'anic
Messages via understanding and discernment: "..MESSAGES
FOR PEOPLE WHO THINK" and "...MESSAGES FOR PEOPLE WHO USE THEIR
REASON".
It was such a strong belief in faith, in the
brotherhood of mankind, in actions based on intellect, research,
reasoned deductions, equality, respect for other faiths, human
rights, and property; in short a strong foundation in Islam and
its beliefs that propelled hundreds of divided tribes and nomads
in the Arabian desert to rapidly expand beyond their borders and
establish the greatest civilization of learning, peace, and
harmony among mankind the world has ever known. The burning
and passion for Islam in the hearts of its believers gave rise
to "Muslim Civilization" in all that it encompasses for one
thousand years..
It was the abandonment of this Islamic flame
that led to the demise, civil wars, greed, arrogance of multiple
rulers, and external invasions, that ultimately led to the total
collapse, stagnation, and the demoralized "Ummah" of today.
The lesson for Muslims today is the same
lesson Muslims learned from the Battles of Badr and Uhud. In
Badr, a small number of Muslims defeated a much larger army due
to a burning love of Islam and its Prophet (pbuh) with God's
mercy and aid. In Uhud, Muslims were defeated after they
disobeyed God and His Prophet (SAW). The lessons from these two
battles are clear. The defeated status of Muslims today is due
to our abandonment of the Holy Qur'an and the Sunnah
of the Prophet in our lives, our corrupt
governance, our greed, imitation of Non-Islamic cultures, and
our Un-Islamic behaviors; thus our demise and suffering is due
the sins we brought upon ourselves and not due to external
factors.
The final demise of the Muslim Empire
occurred after World War I with the defeat of the Ottomans by
the French and British, with the aid of the Arabs. With the
break up of this empire the Near East (became Middle East after
W.W.II) was plum for the picking by the colonialists, England
and France. While the British during the war were enlisting the
help of the Arabs in fighting the Turks with promises of future
"independence" and unity of Arab land, they were plotting in
secret with the French to divide the Arab lands, in particular
Greater Syria and Iraq, without any thought or recognition of
Arab rights or sovereignty. Such an agreement was reached on
January 16, 1916. It was called the SYKES-PICOT
AGREEMENT named after the Englishman Mark Sykes and the
Frenchman Georges Picot.
Simultaneously, while the British promised
the Arabs the land of Palestine; they also promised the Zionist
Jews "a" homeland in Palestine to enlist their
support in bringing the United States and Russia into the war
(the war was going badly for Britain). A small island, England,
decided to give a land it doesn't own to a people foreign to the
land, in total disregard to the natives of the land, the
Palestinians. Such a British gift would solve Europe's
"JEWISH PROBLEM" by expelling the unwanted Jews from
Europe into an Arab land and to ensure a British "colonial"
presence in the Near East to check French power. The British
promise to the Zionist Jews was inscribed in a personal letter
of 65 words from Lord Balfour, England's Foreign Secretary, to
the wealthy Zionist British Jew, Lord Rothschild. This
promissory note became known as the BALFOUR DECLARATION,
passed in November 1917. Ironically, the chief
opponent of the Balfour Declaration was the ONLY JEWISH member
of the British Cabinet, Sir Edward Montague. He feared that the
expropriation of Arab land by Zionists with the help of Britain
can only lead to conflict. He was right. In 1900, Palestine
was overwhelming Palestinian Muslim and Christian with Zionists
only owning 2 percent of the land. In 1948, while still a
minority, Zionists owned only 6 percent of the land.
Through U.N. Resolution 181( the Partition Plan of 1947),
destruction of 450 Palestinian villages, ethnic cleansing of
800,000 Palestinian Refugees, followed by a series of Israel's
Pre-emptive wars (except the 1973 Yum Kippur war) Israel now
controls 100 percent of Palestine and militarily occupies the
lands and lives of 3 million Palestinians in total defiance of
90 U.N. Resolutions, the Fourth Geneva Convention, the U.N.
Charter, and international law.

The SYKES-PICOT AGREEMENT of
1916 (created Iraq, Syria, TransJordan, and Lebanon with borders
drawn by Europeans) and the BALFOUR DECLARATION OF 1917
has to this day been the basis for civil wars,
Israeli/Arab/Palestinian conflict, the creation of Arab military
and monarchial states ruled by Un-Islamic autocratic regimes
spending the public's money on palaces, secret police, weapons,
and a controlled media whose sole purpose is to extol the
ruler's virtues, rather than on the health, education, and
welfare of their people. The MidEast is still paying the price
of these two Agreements that betrayed Arab trust and
aspirations.
The invasion of the European white man of the
Muslim world disconnected Muslims from their faith. The Arabs
and Muslims became perpetual victims blaming all their
deficiencies on European colonialism, American Hegemony, Zionist
conspiracies, corrupt rulers in the pockets of the CIA and
Mossad (Israel's CIA), a Judeo-Christian Holy War against Islam,
and a constant design by America to steal their oil, resources,
and educated elite. Blaming the "outside forces" became the
crying mantra of Muslim governments to hide their own

calls, letters, and emails; did boycott advertisers on CBS, did

massive numbers to Radio and Television Talk Shows, did they
come in huge numbers to mosques to pray and fast, did they pass

attacks, did they join with other national organizations to

Bush and Congress demanding that they condemn such attacks, and

What will Muslims do? Probably
nothing.
Muslims are mostly illiterate, poor,
powerless, oppressed, demoralized, filled with fear, and
depressed.
What can MUSLIM do:
1. Must return, learn, and implement the
only Two real Sources of Islam: the Holy Qur'an and Sunnah of
the Prophet (pbuh)
2. Recognize that the only Strength and
Unity amongst all Muslims is ISLAM. They must uphold Justice
for all, Enjoin the Good and Prohibit Evil. Muslims must learn
to TRUST each other in all matters and not continue to harbor
the Inferiority complex that "foreigners" know better and are
more trustworthy in all fields than the "dark skinned" Muslim.
3. If Muslim rulers are corrupt or evil,
change them. Install a democratically elected Muslim government
that implements Muslim Shariah, Fiqh, and Sunnah. Treat all
Muslims, especially women, and all Non-Muslims equally and with
respect. ABANDON TRIBALISM (as directed in the Holy Qur'an) and
all forms of violence and terrorism, especially against innocent
civilians, as a means of settling scores. However, if Muslim
nations are attacked than all Muslims must defend their faith,
rights, properties, and nations. Above all, Islam is a faith of
peace and justice with respect for all faiths, peoples, and
human rights. Only defensive wars are allowed in Islam.
4. Must develop Islamic Financial
Institutions, Banks, and Lending Practices while Prohibiting
Riba (Interest) that exploits the poor and weak to enrich the
powerful. Must withdraw Muslim funds from western banks and
develop an I.M.F., an (Islamic Monetary Fund) for loans and
grants, while depositing Muslim money in Muslim banks and
investing in Muslim businesses. Trillions of Oil Dollars have
been lost, wasted, or deposited in Foreign Banks.
5. Must abandon all Un-Islamic materialism,

fashion, and unbecoming behaviors and morals. Modesty,

Muslim Ummah is One and any attack on one nation is an attack on

resolution, unified foreign policies, an improved and unified
judicial system, just and shared resources, proper Islamic
education and curriculum, securing Islamic history, art,

allowing for free travel between Muslim nations.
7. Must learn and practice the art of media,
communications, public relations, and use of modern technology..
8. Muslims in Western lands must enter
important fields, like sciences, education, finance and
banking, politics, media and public relations, and must be
politically active in campaigns, running for office, voting, and
languages. Their voices must be heard loud and clear. We must
teach Islam to our children but encourage them to become active
and engaged in their communities in areas that will further
enhance, protect, spread, and foster better understanding of
Islam.
Am I dreaming? Is that unachievable? In the
short term, yes. But any understanding of early Islamic history
and the rapid explosion of Islam from the Arabian desert to
Spain and China will provide hope, encouragement, and a passion
for faith to any Muslim willing to devote himself/herself to the
ONE GOD, ALLAH (SWT) and His Blessed Prophet (SAW). We only
have to read the Holy Qur'an and the Sunnah to find our Straight
Path to truth, peace, justice, and victory, InshaAllah.
