their own nationalism and perhaps even abandon Islam?

If a heart attack killed Saddam while saying his evening prayers, would the
children of Iraq forget their history and become like little American boys
and girls, yearning for "Beanie babies" and trips to McDonalds?

If Hussein Senior was killed in battle against the invaders, would the
paramilitary Fedayeen Saddam lay down their arms and accept U.S. amnesties?

If a U.S. Air Force Predator drone aircraft positively identified Saddam and
launched a Hellfire missile and sent Saddam straight to hell itself, would
the Imams encourage the faithful to praise George W. Bush?
Or would the Iraqis remember the past ten or eleven years of cruel
sanctions, open warfare, secret warfare, shock and awe, depleted uranium,
chronic dysentery and cholera, destroyed infrastructure, electric blackouts,
rhetoric by the U.S. President referring to them as "the enemy", the torture
of prisoners, the humiliation of homeowners, the tanks roaming their streets
and jets dominating the skies, the bombs falling and the submarine-launched
missiles destroying their homes and marketplaces, the amputees and the
burned little children, the lying accusations, and the machinations of the
Zionists and their supporters?
I don't think we'll see too many Iraqi teens wearing Bush -- 2004 tee
shirts. I don't think Cheney or Rummy will show their faces in Baghdad
without heavy body armor and a napalm attack to clear the area in advance of
their visit.
No, the Iraqis will reject U.S. occupation with or without Saddam; they
have a history, you know.
The American people will likely disgorge the Bush occupation of our
Federal administration, too, and hopefully send Bush and his gang of thugs
straight to Guantonomo, where they all belong.
