As we learn that weapons of mass destruction were simply used as a ruse in
order to engage the support of the American public for this exercise in
mayhem and massacre of the innocent, the support of the American public for
the war against Iraq must not only wane but turn into a rising tide of
indignation against those responsible for the war in the first place.
Moreover, the useless sacrifice of more young American lives after President
Bush proclaimed victory on May 1 may also force some of the instigators of
this war to face prosecution in an American court or perhaps an
international war crimes tribunal.
As reported in Die Welt, Paul Wolfowitz revealed the primary reason for
going to war. That reason was oil. More candor from the leading "neo-con"
Bush advisor was made in Vanity Fair when he said:
"for reasons that have a lot to do with the US government bureaucracy, we
settled on the one issue that everyone could agree on: weapons of mass
destruction."
Of course, Wolfowitz would not admit that Israel's security was also
paramount in the neo-conservative agenda although he and others are
connected to the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs (JINSA).
Israel had an enemy eliminated at the cost of over 200 American lives and
approximately a thousand American wounded up to now.
Let us indeed hope that American support for Bush's new imperial thrust will
wane and more young Americans will not have to die.
