Lebanese foreign affairs minister resigns

Beirut, (UNA-OIC) – Lebanese Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Nassif Hitti announced his resignation from his ministerial post on Monday over the government’s performance amid the current critical time, NNA reported.

“I had pinned high hopes on change and reform, but the reality aborted every hope in making promising starts out of appalling ends,” Hitti said.

“I did not and will not compromise my principles and beliefs for the sake of any post or power,” he added.

Hitti explained that his decision was due to the failure of assuming his mission amid the absence of a vision on a free and independent Lebanon, calling the government to reconsider many policies and practices.
