13 candidates cleared to run for president on Nov 22

Ouagadougou (UNA-OIC) – Burkina Faso’s Constitutional Council announced that 13 out of 14 candidates have been cleared to run for the presidency in the country’s elections scheduled for 22 November.

According to a statement issued by the Constitutional Council, among those allowed to contest are incumbent President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, opposition leader Zephirin Diabre, and Yacouba Isaac Zida, who briefly served as Burkina Faso’s acting head of state in November 2014.

It is noteworthy that the parliamentary and presidential elections will be held together on 22 November, with 6.4 registered voters.
