AlMalik briefs CEO of Saudi Fund for Development on ICESCO's projects in member states

Rabat (UNA-OIC) – Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) Dr. Salim M. AlMalik received CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Marshad, who paid a visit to the ICESCO headquarters in Rabat on Friday.

During the meeting, which also brought together some directors of ICESCO’s sectors, Dr. AlMalik reviewed the most notable programs and projects that the Organization is implementing, in cooperation with the competent authorities in several member states.

He also reviewed ICESCO’s new vision and action strategy, which seek further communication with the member countries to identify their priorities and needs, develop programs and activities that meet these needs, open up to non-member states, international and donor organizations, bodies and institutions, and build partnerships with them for the benefit of the Islamic countries and Muslim communities around the world.

The ICESCO chief also highlighted the key initiatives, programs, and projects launched by the Organization and implemented to support the efforts geared towards addressing the COVID-19 pandemic and assisting many countries in facing the effects of the pandemic in the educational, scientific and cultural fields.

For his part, the SFD Chief Executive Officer praised the roles of ICESCO in its areas of competence and its support for member states during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The SFD was established in 1974, with the aim of financing development projects by granting loans to developing countries as well as providing grants for technical aid to finance studies and institutional support.
