Arab Initiative is still the basic plan to achieve Middle East peace

Cairo (UNA-OIC) – Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit said “the peace plan included in the Arab Peace Initiative that was adopted by the Arab Summit in 2002 remains the basic plan agreed upon by the Arabs, to achieve a comprehensive and just peace between Arabs and Israel.”

Aboul Gheit stressed in his speech during the work of the 154th session of the Arab League Council held virtually on Wednesday at the level of foreign ministers, under the chair of the State of Palestine, that “the Palestinian cause was, is and will remain the subject of Arab consensus”.

“The goal that all our Arab countries seek, without exception, is to end the occupation and establish an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital,” he added.
