Cairo (UNA-OIC) – Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit on Thursday welcomed the recent statements made by US President Joe Biden, in which he asserted commitment to the two-state solution as a basis for resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
Aboul Gheit stressed that the past years’ restrictions on the Palestinians economy and politics were a “big mistake, as the main partner in the peace process was excluded and the American administration will correct the mistake”.
The Arab League chief considered the announcement made by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to resume economic, development and humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people, including those directed to (UNRWA) as a positive step by the new US administration.
He affirmed the importance to work quickly in the coming period to launch a serious peace process with a clear time frame, in order to bring fair, comprehensive and final settlement to the Palestinian cause.
