Brazil reports 631 deaths from COVID-19 in 24 hours

Brazil reported 631 deaths from the novel coronavirus in 24 hours, as per the updated figures released by the Ministry of Health on Sunday (Jul. 12). The total death toll in Brazil adds up to 21.1 thousand.

The number of cases confirmed since the beginning of the pandemic has reached 1,864,681, after 24,831 new cases of people diagnosed with COVID-19 from Saturday to Sunday. In all, 669,377 people are being monitored and 1,123,204 have recovered. There are also 4,063 deaths in investigation.

States

São Paulo (17,848) and Rio de Janeiro (11,415), both in the Southeast, followed by Ceará (6,868), Pernambuco (5,595), and Pará (5,289), are the states with the highest number of fatal cases. The states with the lowest amount of related deaths are Mato Grosso do Sul (161), Tocantins (255), Roraima (396), Acre (426), and Santa Catarina (497).

São Paulo also ranks first among the states with the highest case tallies, with 371,997. Second comes Ceará (136,785), Rio de Janeiro (129,684), Pará (125,714), and Bahia (105,763).
