Bukhara to host International Forum on Inter-Parliamentary Global Cooperation

Tashkent (UNA-OIC) – The International Forum on “Inter-Parliamentary Global Cooperation in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals” will kick off in Bukhara on Wednesday, 23 June.

The two-day forum is organized by the Government of Uzbekistan, the Oliy Majlis in partnership with the UN Office and other international organizations.

Representatives of the European Parliament, the parliaments of Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Canada, China, France, Germany, Indonesia, Iran, Italy, Japan, Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Malaysia, Spain, Thailand, Turkey, the United Kingdom and Uzbekistan, as well as major international organizations such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic Speaking States will attend the forum. Experts from research institutions and public figures will join the discussions.

The participants will discuss the role of parliament in ensuring the effective implementation of the SDGs, the financing of activities to implement the SDGs, the formation of their statistical indicators, the participation of civil society institutions and the public in this process, the importance of parliamentary control, monitoring and evaluation, the development of international dialogue and global cooperation between the world’s parliaments towards sustainable development.
