Dear Sir / Madam,
On behalf of more than 900,000 Canadian Muslims, I would like to submit a formal complaint against the racist and very hateful policies of CBC television towards the Canadian Muslims. For the past several weeks CBC is trying to become CNN but the management of CBC has forgotten that the CBC is a publicly funded Canadian company and CNN is a private American company. We, the Canadian taxpayers, pay the salaries of CBC management.
Two weeks ago CBC ran a show criticizing the teachings of the holy Qur’an and Islam. The show did not contribute any thing positive, instead, the show tried to misinform Canadians about Qur’an (the holy book of Muslims). I have never seen CBC running a show discussing the books of other faiths and criticizing them. Today, September 15, 2003 at about 8:40 PM (MST) CBC ran a documentary showing some self-claimed Muslim fanatics who have nothing but hate for the entire world. CBC is trying its best to promote the hate-mongers and develop a negative image of Muslims and Islam.
I fully understand that as a news organization it is CBC’s responsibility to provide news to Canadians but when it comes to Muslims and Islam CBC works very hard and finds abnormal fanatic Muslims while the normal / true Muslims are in abundance. Why the normal / true Muslims are not given chances in these programs? The misled fanatics have nothing to do with Islam. It has been repeatedly mentioned to the management of CBC that these fanatics do not represent even a fraction of 1.6 billion worldwide Muslims or 900K Canadian Muslims. But CBC is constantly ignoring the largest religious minority of Canada and running documentaries / talk shows to spread hate against Canadian Muslims. I am afraid that someone may get inspired by these hate-creating programs and may commit hate crimes against Canadian Muslims. The management of CBC will be fully responsible for any hate crime that may be committed by any person who may be inspired by CBC’s racist programs.
On behalf of Canadian Muslims I would like to request you to stop CBC from spreading hate against Muslims. CBC must stop anti-Islam propaganda immediately.
CBC and other Canadian media must include the views of true Muslims in their talk shows and documentaries in order to provide balanced information to Canadians.
We also request Canadian government to suspend all funding to CBC immediately unless CBC changes its racist policies against Canadian Muslims. We are seeking your help in this matter and hope it can be resolved in the best possible way.
