Egyptian president begins visit to Djibouti today

Cairo (UNA-OIC) – Egyptian President Abdel Fatah el-Sisi headed early Thursday to Djibouti to hold a summit meeting with Djiboutian counterpart Ismaïl Omar Guelleh.

According to Egypt’s Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady, during this visit, which is the first of its kind, will see an Egyptian-Djiboutian summit meeting to discuss various issues relating to joint cooperation and ways to enhance bilateral relations, particularly on the economic, security, and military levels.

The spokesman added that the summit is also scheduled to discuss regional issues, in a way that contributes to achieving the interests of the two countries and embodies the shared strong will to promote cooperation frameworks between them.

On Wednesday, two Egyptian military jets carrying food and medical aid arrived in the capital Djibouti to support the Horn of Africa nation in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
