Paris (UNA-OIC) – French President Emmanuel Macron said France would not abandon the friendly Lebanese people, and that the formation of a mission government is up to the Lebanese authorities.
In a press conference held in Paris on Sunday, Macron spoke about the situation in Lebanon, and the decision of Lebanon’s Prime Minister-designate Mustapha Adib, to step down on Saturday citing a failure to form a new government.
He accused the various Lebanese forces and those leading the institutions of clearly refusing to respect the pledges they made to France and the international community to form a government within 15 days, which could implement a roadmap of reforms that were agreed upon with the international community.
Macron, however, stressed that “France will not abandon the friendly Lebanese people, and the roadmap will continue, and this initiative will continue at the international level, and the formation of a mission government is up to the Lebanese authorities.”
