Gaza’s sole power plant shuts down after fuel ran out

Gaza (UNA-OIC) – Gaza’s sole power plant shut down on Tuesday as the fuel needed to operate it ran out as a result of the Israeli occupation’s closure of Karem Abu Salem crossing, the only commercial border crossing between Israel and Gaza, located to the southeast of Rafah.
Sources said the Gaza power plant was completely shut down after fuel needed to run the electricity plant ran out in the aftermath of Israel’s closure of Karem Abu Salem crossing last Wednesday.
The Gaza Energy Authority estimates that the electricity deficit will increase to 75 percent without a functioning Gaza power station, plunging the electricity supply to Gazans to as low as three to four hours a day.
