GCC environment ministers discuss strategic plan for joint environmental action

Riyadh (UNA-OIC) – Ministers responsible for environmental affairs in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States held their 22nd meeting Tuesday through video conferencing.

The meeting was chaired by UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, chairman of the current session of the Committee of Ministers, with the participation of GCC Secretary General Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf.

The meeting discussed a number of important topics on the agenda, foremost of which is the decision of the 40th session of the Supreme Council on adopting the environmental orientations of the GCC countries for 2020; the strategic plan for joint environmental action; support for the Gulf Environmental Portal project hosted and managed by the Environment Public Authority of Kuwait; and the projects of the GCC Green Initiative for Environment and Sustainable Development.
