Indonesia to organize Youth Science Week

Jakarta, (UNA-OIC) – The Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) is holding the 2020 Youth Science Week on November 16-20 to develop a passion for science and technology among youngsters and encourage them to conduct innovation and research.

“This event is an effort to provide a forum for young people, with creativity and innovation, and create opportunities to enhance their capacity and creativity in future,” LIPI Chief Laksana Tri Handoko noted in his opening remarks at the 2020 Youth Science Week here on Monday.

The Indonesia Science Expo 2020 features a series of activities comprising national scientific competitions and awards for outstanding young scientists.

The activities include the Youth Scientific Work Competition (LKIR), National Young Inventors Award (NYIA), LIPI Young Scientist Award (LYSA), and Meet the Students (MTS), which is scientific coaching for students and teachers.

Finalists of the competitions could become ambassadors for Indonesian science and technology in the future, Handoko stated.
