Amman (UNA-OIC) – Jordanian Interior Minister Salameh Hammad met here on Wednesday with Director of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in Jordan, Mohammed Adar.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed safety measures in Palestinian refugee camps in the Kingdom amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Hammad underlined Jordan’s commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation by supporting UNRWA’s role and efforts in serving refugees and meeting their needs in various health and economic fields. He pointed to Jordan’s “strong relations” with international organizations and bodies, namely those working in humanitarian fields.
For his part, Adar presented the agency’s plan for Jordan, highlighting key aspects of assisting Palestinian refugees. On health safety during the pandemic, he pointed to UNRWA’s health centers, which provide personal protective equipment such as face masks and gloves.
The Director of the UN Palestine refugee agency commended the efforts the Jordanian government exerts to aid refugees, stressing the importance of boosting cooperation and taking the necessary measures to activate and develop them.
