Baghdad (UNA-OIC) – Iraqi Minister of Health Hassan Al-Tamimi said Monday that the surge in coronavirus infections indicates that the country has entered a dangerous phase of the epidemic.
Al-Tamimi said, during a press briefing, that since the onset of the crisis, the Ministry of Health has been keen on serving citizens and providing medical advice to avoid infections.
The minister noted that so many citizens do not abide by the safety regulations despite the severity of the epidemic, adding that many are trying to create confusion through fake news about the current situation. He called on the government institutions to take the necessary measures to implement the COVID-19 restrictions.
Al-Tamimi stated that there is no coronavirus treatment at this time, spelling out that his ministry is seeking to quickly construct new hospitals with 400-bed capacities, in order to accommodate the numbers of infected people.
