Amman (UNA-OIC) – The Jordan News Agency, Petra, launched on Tuesday a news application developed by “Orange Jordan”, as part of a years-long strategic partnership between the telecommunication company and Petra.
Minister of State for Media Affairs Amjad Adaileh, who presided over the launch ceremony, highlighted Petra’s role in expressing the views and aspirations of the people. “Supporting the effort of this national and ancient institution reflects the sense of national responsibility.”
Adaileh, who is also the government’s spokesperson, commended “Orange Jordan” for its support and effort in developing the application as it understands the importance of delivering transparent and credible news to people in an easy and accessible way through websites and social media outlets.
Orange Jordan’s Deputy CEO/CFO Raslan Deiranieh underlined that “Orange” Jordan enjoys good relations with the media sector, and said it has been working to increase the reliance on information technology in local media through deploying its strategic partnerships with stakeholders. He said that “Petra’s” latest application is an “important step toward digital transformation.”
For his part, Director-General of the Jordan News Agency Faeq Hijazeen said the application is compatible with all mobile phones, which will allow more people to access news especially the young.
