Jordan, WBG discuss public transport improvement plans

Amman (UNA-OIC) – Jordanian Minister of Transport Wajih Azaiza on Sunday discussed with Regional Director of the Mashreq Department at the World Bank Group (WBG) Saroj Kumar Jha, means of supporting the public transport improvement plans in Jordan.

Talks during the meeting also tackled the need to provide capacity building for workers in the field of transport, to improve their knowledge, skills, and capability necessary to perform well at work, in cooperation with the local community entities of unions and universities.

Azaiza said the ministry is working on updating the transport strategy in all its types, stressing that it is at the forefront of the ministry’s priorities.

The WBG official affirmed the Bank’s support for the Kingdom by providing a grant to help update the transport strategy that adopts a multimodal land, sea and air network, which will help make Jordan a regional hub for international and transit trade.
