Jordanian King stresses importance of enhancing joint Arab intelligence work to combat terror

Amman (UNA-OIC) – King Abdullah II of Jordan on Wednesday underscored the importance of the Arab Intelligence Forum as a framework for institutionalizing joint Arab action and as a step to bolster Arab intelligence cooperation.

In a speech he delivered, via video link, at the second round of the Arab Intelligence Forum, hosted by the General Intelligence Department (GID) in Aqaba, King Abdullah emphasized the need to counter the threats facing the Arab world, especially terrorism and extremism. He also stressed the need to address global crises and developments, as well as the social, economic, and security implications of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The King noted that the current phase requires stepping up joint Arab action, unifying efforts, and developing the mechanisms necessary to accomplish tangible results. He lauded the efforts of Arab intelligence services in safeguarding security and stability at the regional and international levels.
