KSRelief Project Masam dismantles 1,391 landmines planted by Houthis in Yemen

Riyadh (UNA-OIC) – Project Masam of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) for clearing landmines in Yemen managed to dismantle 1,391 mines, during the second week of November 2020.

These include 36 antipersonnel mines, 198 anti-tank mines, 1,155 unexploded ordnances, and two explosive devices, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

A total of 197,982 mines, planted by the Houthi militia in Yemen, have been dismantled since the beginning of Project Masam. The militia hid these mines in different shapes, colors and methods in an attempt to kill the largest number of children, women and old people as well as causing serious injuries or limb amputations.
