Libya still in first wave of coronavirus outbreak

Tripoli (UNA-OIC) – Member of the Coronavirus Pandemic Team at the World Health Organization (WHO) in Libya, Ramadan Osman, on Saturday affirmed that it is difficult to track contacts due to the increase in new cases, and that the virus has become out of control in some areas, including Benghazi and Tripoli.

Osman said in a press statement that the coronavirus pandemic did not turn into a seasonal disease, but with the approaching winter season and the start of influenza, there will be double burden of disease, especially that some of the symptoms of flu and coronavirus are similar, however, people with certain underlying medical conditions are at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19.
