Tripoli (UNA-OIC) – Libyan Foreign Minister Mohamed Taher Siala reiterated that the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord was keen to respond to local, regional and international calls for a ceasefire and an end to the war.
Siala added, in a speech at the meeting of the Arab League Council on Wednesday, delivered on his behalf by Libya’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League Ambassador Saleh Al-Shamakhi, that the Presidential Council was a forerunner in working to solve the Libyan crisis politically and spare the country the scourge of war and destruction.
The foreign minister said the capabilities of the Libyan people belong to all Libyans and cannot be forfeited. He called for the immediate resumption of the Libyan oil export process across all fields under the exclusive control of the National Oil Corporation (NOC), which is based in the capital Tripoli, depositing the export revenues into a special account of NOC, and working on setting inclusive political arrangements in accordance with the outputs of Berlin conference to ensure good governance and transparency.
Also in his speech, Siala asserted that the Presidential Council is striving for building a civilian state and the rapprochement between the Libyan factions. He noted that the Chairman of the Presidential Council renews his call for presidential and parliamentary elections next March according to a constitutional rule to be agreed upon between the Libyans.
