Mauritania, UNDP sign cooperation agreement to support youth

Nouakchott (UNA-OIC) – Mauritania and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) signed a cooperation agreement, under which the latter will provide $2 million to the National Volunteer Program for Sustainable Development for the period from 2020 to 2024.

The National Volunteer Program, known as “Our Home”, aims to reduce unemployment among young people by creating youth projects and integrating 10,000 young volunteers over the next four years.

In a statement after signing the agreement, Minister of Employment, Youth and Sports Dr. Taleb Ould Sid’Ahmed praised the existing cooperation between Mauritania and its development partners, especially the World Health Organization (WHO), the UNDP, and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
