US, Saudi Arabia, UAE, UK call for 'full restoration' of Sudan's civilian-led transitional govt

Washington (UNA-OIC) – The United States, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom the United Arab Emirates, on Wednesday, called for a full and immediate restoration of Sudanese civilian-led transitional government and institutions.

“The protests of October 30 demonstrated the depth of the Sudanese people’s commitment to advancing their country’s transition, and we remain committed to helping them achieve these aspirations,” said the four countries in a joint statement.

The four countries also affirmed their stance with the people of Sudan, reiterating the importance of supporting their aspirations for a democratic and peaceful nation.

On 25 October 2021, Head of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council Gen. Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan announced many political and security measures, declaring a state of emergency nationwide and suspending key provisions of the Constitutional Document. He also stated that the army will supervise the transitional phase in the country until the elections, scheduled for July 2023.
