Negotiations on Ethiopia's River Nile dam to resume tomorrow: Sudanese official

Khartoum (UNA-OIC) – Sudanese Acting Foreign Minister Dr. Omar Gamaredeen announced that the tripartite negotiations on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) will be resumed on Tuesday.
He stated that the negotiations will focus on unifying the texts of the draft agreements, presented by Sudan, Egypt and Ethiopia, to be formulated in one document by the representatives of the three countries and the African Union (AU) facilitators.
Speaking to Sudan News Agency (SUNA), the acting minister said the unified document will be submitted to South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, the AU’s current chairperson, before review, in consideration of the possibility of being a basis for an agreement between the three countries.
The ministers of foreign affairs and irrigation in Sudan, Egypt and Ethiopia participated in a meeting called for by South Africa following the weeklong suspension of the negotiations at the request of Khartoum.
