Jeddah (UNA-OIC) – Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen had a phone call with Bahraini Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani, during which they reviewed the distinguished relations between the OIC General Secretariat and the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The OIC Secretary General referred to the meeting he had late last year with King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and highly commended the support and guidance received from the Bahraini monarch.
During the telephone conversation, the two sides reviewed the efforts of the OIC and its various organs to stem the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic at the level of Member States. They also commended the unrelenting efforts of Member States, including Bahrain, to protect their citizens and residents while maintaining sustainable economies despite the brunt of COVID-19’s impact on almost all aspects of life.
For his part, Al-Zayani thanked the OIC chief for his initiatives, noting the remarkable efforts being made by the General Secretariat and its organs to consolidate the Islamic solidarity and boost coordination among Member States.
Meanwhile, the Bahraini minister praised Saudi Arabia’s firm, timely, and responsible procedures relating to the organization of this year’s Hajj season with a limited number of pilgrims, to preserve the lives of Muslims.
