Jeddah (UNA-OIC) – Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen took part in the 14th virtual meeting of the Board of Trustees of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI).
The meeting, which was held on Monday under the chair of Pakistani President Dr. Arif Alvi, Chairman of the IIUI Board of Trustees, discussed a number of issues related to the university and its waqf (endowment) fund.
In his speech, the OIC Secretary General emphasized rejection of terrorism and extremism, and the need to develop higher education to serve the goals of the Islamic Ummah in the scientific fields.
Al-Othaimeen praised the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, President of the Islamic Summit, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, for their support to the joint Islamic action which is witnessing a qualitative shift.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Hathal bin Hamoud Al-Otaibi, of Saudi Arabia, was nominated as president of the International Islamic University, Islamabad.
