Jeddah (UNA-OIC) – Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Dr. Yousef Al-Othaimeen and President of Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University Dr. Ahmed Al-Amiri signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance cooperation and exchange expertise and experiences between the two parties in areas of common interest.

The MoU, which was signed Thursday in the Saudi capital Riyadh, provides for coordination on scholarships available at the university for the students of OIC member states, in order to build students’ capacities and spread the message of correct moderate Islam based on solidarity, tolerance, openness and rejecting extremism, hyperbole, violence and terrorism.

Under this agreement, the university shall cooperate with the General Secretariat’s Sawt Al-Hikma (Voice of Wisdom) Center, as one of the OIC channels to combat deviant thought, extremism and Islamophobia, with the aim of refuting terrorism intellectually and effectively with facts and figures.

The two sides also seek to implement joint projects in the fields of Islamic and economic studies and research, as well as other technical and academic aspects.
