OIC Visiting Delegation Continues Engagements in Niamey

Niamey (UNA-OIC) – Following the signing of the Host Country Agreement for the OIC Regional Mission in Niger, serving all Sahel and Lake Chad Basin countries, the OIC General Secretariat delegation on a working visit to Niamey was received in by H.E. Mr Mohamed Bazoum, President of the Republic of Niger; H.E. Prime Minister Mr Ouhoumoudou Mahamadou; H.E. Mr Seyni Oumarou, President of the National Assembly; H.E. Mr Hassoumi Massoudou, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, African Integration and Nigeriens Abroad; and H.E. Dr Idi Illiassou Mainassara, Minister of Public Health of the Republic of Niger.

The delegation also met the ambassadors of a number of G5 Sahel and Lake Chad Basin states members of the OIC that are accredited to Niamey.

These meetings enabled exchange on issues of common interest, with focus on the major challenges facing the Sahel and Lake Chad countries. Discussions also centered on the current and future activities of the Mission, exploring ways to scale up its capacity to deliver effective solutions to challenges of concern to populations in Sahelian and Lake Chad Basin countries members of the OIC.

The OIC delegation conveyed to H.E. President Mohamed Bazoum, and to all Nigerien authorities, the grateful appreciation of H.E. OIC Secretary General Mr Hissein Brahim Taha for the ongoing spirit of collaboration and support with which Niger, as a founding country, tends to the goals and mandate of the OIC.
