Jeddah (UNA-OIC) – The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) follows closely the recent events in Mali, expressing concern over the detention of the country’s interim president and the prime minister, according to an OIC statement.
The General Secretariat called for clam and for the release of detainees. It urged all Malian parties to embrace a spirit of dialogue and responsibility to resolve all issues relating to the formation of the government.
Also in the statement, the OIC reaffirmed its commitment to the civilian transition process in Mali and appealed to all international partners to intensify their support for the people of this West African nation.
