Jeddah (UNA-OIC) – The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomed the understandings reached at the conclusion of the intra-Libyan dialogue hosted by the Kingdom of Morocco in the city of Bouznika between the Libyan delegations of the House of Representatives and the High Council of State.
The two delegations have agreed on the controls, mechanisms, and criteria for selecting those who would assume the leadership positions of sovereign institutions. These understandings represent an important opportunity to move forward on the path of dialogue to achieve peace, security, and stability in Libya and the region.
The OIC General Secretariat highly appreciated the efforts of the Kingdom of Morocco, the neighboring countries, the United Nations, and the international partners to help the Libyans reach a comprehensive political solution that responds to the aspirations of the Libyan people.
The General Secretariat called on the Libyans to prioritize the interests of the Libyan people, stressing the need to stop foreign military interventions in the country. It also called on the international community to support the promising opportunities to reach the desired political solution to the crisis in war-torn Libya.
