Palestinian PM discusses Gaza reconstruction with British Foreign Secretary

Ramallah (UNA-OIC) – Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh discussed with British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, during a meeting in Ramallah, reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, and the significant importance of preventing a recurrence of the Israeli aggression on the Strip through a serious political path.

Shtayyeh stressed that the reconstruction of the devastated enclave must take place in tandem with preventing Israel from carrying out another aggression on Gaza and filling the political vacuum through a serious and real track, under multiple international sponsorships, that ends the occupation and leads to the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state on the pre-1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital.

He stressed that the time had come for London and the rest of European capitals to engage with the US to start a serious political track and compel Israel to end its policies that undermine the two-state solution and weaken the Palestinian national authority and end its Judaization of Jerusalem and its continued blockade on Gaza.

Shtayyeh urged the British Foreign Secretary to break the status quo by recognizing the state of Palestine and taking the necessary measures to boycott the Israeli products.

For his part, Raab affirmed his country’s continued pursuit to start a political process based on the two-state solution.
