Paraguay thanks Qatar for support in fight against COVID-19

Asuncion (UNA-OIC) – President of the Republic of Paraguay Mario Abdo Benítez held a phone call on Sunday with Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, to discuss bilateral ties and ways of enhancing and developing them in various fields.

During the telephone conversation, President Benítez thanked Sheikh Hamad Al Thani for Qatar’s support to Paraguay, indicating the arrival of the first batch of Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine, which amounted to 99,600 out of 400,000 doses provided by Qatar as a donation to the South American country.

According to a statement carried by Qatar News Agency (QNA), a plane carrying Moderna COVID-19 vaccine arrived from Doha at Asuncion Airport, where it was received by Paraguayan Foreign Minister Euclides Acevedo and other senior state officials, as well as Chargé d’Affaires at Qatar’s Embassy in Paraguay Saeed bin Hamad Al Marri.
