Arlen Specter: Bill of Rights Foe

He is so pro-Israel that he could easily be mistaken as a card carrying member of the Knesset. His name is Arlen Specter (R-PA) and he has been feeding off the federal payroll, since 1980. How he continues to get reelected in the “Keystone State” is a mystery to me.

Thankfully, the “Washington Post” got hold of Specter’s e-mails about his traveling junket of Dec. 23, 2002 to Jan. 6, 2003 thru Europe and the Middle East. They revealed that, while the Steel Industry is shutting down in Pennsylvania, creating widespread misery for ex-workers, Specter was in Europe ordering “cases of Evian Water, a driver, a personal assistant, Boca Burgers and daily squash matches.” Some public servant he is!

Specter’s sister, Hilda, actually lives in Jerusalem. When he visits her, which is often, he demands a “driver and an escort.” The V.P. of the “Citizens Against Government Waste,” David Williams, branded Specter “a prima donna” for his royal traveling habits. He added, “This guy is no friend of the taxpayers” (FoxNews.com, 01/07/03).

Specter doesn’t see any problems either with sending billions of dollars of U.S. aid, yearly, to Israel. In fact, he told the “Middle East Forum” (March, 1997), that it is in our “national self-interest” to do so. This is at the same time health care costs for millions of middle class families and struggling retirees have begun to go through the proverbial ceiling.

In 1996, when Democratic President Bill Clinton embraced PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat on the White House lawn, the obnoxious Specter told the “Jewish Exponent” (12/12/96), “I could barely keep my lunch down.” The truth is, when I see Specter, an Israeli Firster, pontificating on CNN, with a Likud sympathizer, like Larry King, asking him soft ball questions, I want to take off my shoe and throw it at the idiot box.

In the mid-1990s, Specter began promoting legislation calling for “secret trials, based on secret evidence,” for immigrants that the federal government was looking to deport, via a Star Chamber-like proceeding. His co-conspirator in that dubious effort was Sen. Charles “The Windbag” Schumer (D-NY), who was then a member of the House.

A Hawk, Specter pushed hard for the U.S. preemptive strike against Iraq. Like the odious Richard Perle, he claimed Saddam Hussein had WMD and the reason the UN inspectors couldn’t find any was because Saddam was “hiding them” (“Pittsburgh Tribune Review,” Jan. 14, 2003).

After the 9/11 tragedy, the draconian USA Patriot Act (S. 1510) was introduced on Oct. 4, 2001. Specter, despite being one of the highest ranking Republicans in the Senate, failed to call for a public hearing on the controversial measure. It was then passed by the Congress, with little or no debate, on Oct. 26, 2001. Specter, naturally, voted for it. This law granted the Bush-Cheney Gang, “sweeping new powers that undermined the Bill of Rights and are unnecessary to keep us safe.” (ACLU.com).

Along with his crony, Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman (D-Ct), Specter co-sponsored the Homeland Security Act on May 2, 2002. This law has transformed the federal government into a budding police state.

On Jan. 9, 2003, it was disclosed that a “Patriot Act II” was in the works. The distinguished Law Professor David Cole said it could “radically alter our rights and freedoms” (“The Nation,” March 17, 2003). Now, Specter, who is one of the key backers of “Patriot Act II,” is saying he advocates “holding hearings” on the proposed measure. Sure, Arlen!

Patriot Act II, if passed, will allow federal agents, without the approval of a judge, to demand private records and compel testimony. It will also expand the use of the death penalty in terrorist financing cases, and make it tougher for defendants to get bail before trial (“Baltimore Sun,” Sept. 14, 2003). Specter has no respect for our revered liberties.

Back in 1964, Specter served as an Assistant Counsel to the Warren Commission and helped to cover up the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, in Dallas, on Nov. 22, 1963. It was Specter, who invented the now discredited “single bullet theory.” Supposedly, this “magic bullet,” which violated all the laws of ballistics and physics, passed through Kennedy and Gov. John Connally of Texas and then emerged in a pristine state. In order for the Warren Commission to come up with the false conclusion, that there was only a “single” shooter, Lee Harvey “The Patsy” Oswald, it needed to show shots were “only” fired from the School Book Depository in Dealey Plaza. Specter’s fanciful theory of the “magic bullet” helped to fit that agenda.

Today, few Americans believe either Specter or the Warren Commission. They are convinced that JFK, a staunch Nationalist, was “targeted” for death as a result of an international conspiracy. They can now also begin to see how the forces of the cunning globalists, (read “New World Order”), have grown stronger since that dark day in Dallas. A final judgment on the JFK case has yet to reached.

In conclusion, Arlen “Magic Bullet” Specter is a sign of our times and the decline of our Republic. Hopefully, in the next election, the good people of Pennsylvania will send him packing with a one way ticket to Tel Aviv. It couldn’t happen to a more insidious foe of our Bill of Rights.
