Kabul (UNA-OIC) – Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani awarded the state medal of Ghazi Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan to EU Special Envoy for Afghanistan Roland Kobia in appreciation of his efforts for good and friendly relations, as well as maintaining peace and cooperation.
In a virtual farewell meeting, President Ghani praised the EU Special Envoy to Afghanistan for his services during his mission in the country and continued support to the peace process.
In turn, Special Envoy Kobia thanked the Afghan president for granting him the state medal, considering the president’s stance towards maintaining lasting and fair peace and protection of the republic as valuable.
The European official affirmed the EU’s support for an independent and democratic Afghanistan, where the rights of women, youth and minorities are protected. He also reiterated that the EU stands beside the people and government of Afghanistan.
