Kabul (UNA-OIC) – Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on Saturday discussed investment opportunities in Afghanistan with a group of Chinese investors, who are interested to invest in the generation of electrical energy from coal.
The Chinese investors said they were willing to make an investment of $400 million on a coal power plant to have the capacity of generating 300 Megawatts.
In the meeting, President Ghani articulated the potentials of natural resources as well as investment opportunities in Afghanistan’s energy sector.
Ghani instructed Afghanistan Investment Facilitation Unit to make the required assessment in this area in coordination with Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), to facilitate investment opportunities for the group and to share the outcome with the office of the President.
