President Ghani chairs meeting to discuss USAID projects in Afghanistan

Kabul (UNA-OIC) – Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani chaired a meeting on Sunday to discuss the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) projects in Afghanistan.

According to a statement from the Presidential Palace, the relevant officials spoke, during the meeting attended by the US ambassador to Kabul, about the USAID’s future projects including democracy, governance, fighting corruption, health, and education as well as providing support to women and girls in Afghanistan.

Considering the current situation in the south-central Asia nation, the officials pledged to do more for the Afghan-owned peace process, and provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan.

President Ghani said his government’s focus was on water management and the expansion of agriculture in terms of processing and exports.

Considering the Citizen’s Charter National Priority Program (CCNPP), he said: “We would focus on the Afghan products and your cooperation should be result-oriented in the field of basic services.”

“Service providing should be prioritized and we would focus on three parts of the society; which are women, youth and poverty,” the president added.

On the peace process, Ghani said he has reached a needed consensus and his consultation would continue with the people of different strata of society.
