Khartoum (UNA-OIC) – Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh will host the virtual Friends of Sudan Conference on Wednesday, the ninth in a series of Friends of Sudan meetings that began at the end of 2019.
The conference will discuss the peace process in Sudan with the participation of the Sudanese armed struggle movements. It will also review the outcome of the Sudan Partners Conference that was hosted by the German capital Berlin on 25 June 2020.
Saudi Arabia’s hosting the Friends of Sudan Conference comes out of the keenness of the Kingdom on Sudan’s stability and achievement of peace and economic stability for its people.
It is noteworthy that the Sudan Partners Conference, which culminated in a broad international consensus on the need to provide support to the country as it is experiencing a difficult economic situation. Donor countries pledged $1.8 billion to support development projects in Sudan and implement direct support package for citizens.
