Saudi Foreign Minister receives new OIC Secretary-General

Riyadh (UNA-OIC) – Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud received Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Riyadh on Thursday, November 18.

During the meeting, the Saudi minister congratulated the Secretary-General on his assumption of office and assured him of the Kingdom’s support, as the host country and chair of the 14th Islamic Summit, in serving the OIC objectives of promoting joint Islamic action.

The meeting reviewed a range of issues relating to member states, which would enhance the role of the OIC as the second-largest international organization after the United Nations.

Taha lauded Saudi Arabia’s role, recalling its efforts in the founding of the OIC and its ongoing support for the work of the Organization as a collective voice of the Islamic ummah.

The meeting was attended by Assistant OIC Secretary-General for Political Affairs Yousef bin Mohammed Aldobaey, and the Director-General of the Cabinet and Chief Adviser to the OIC Secretary-General, Mohammed Adam Kalbo.
