Second plane of Egyptian relief airlift arrives in Beirut

Cairo (UNA-OIC) – The second Egyptian plane carrying medical assistance arrived in Lebanon on Saturday morning as part of an airlift urgently launched by Egypt to support Lebanon in the wake of Beirut’s port massive blast that occurred on Tuesday.

According to a statement published by the State Information Service of the Egyptian presidency, the second aircraft carrying 14 tons of foodstuffs and wheat, was received by the Lebanese side at Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport in the presence of Egypt’s Ambassador to Lebanon Dr. Yasser Alawi.

The Egyptian relief airlift, which was launched under the directives of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in support of Lebanon to overcome the humanitarian disaster that befell Beirut, consists of four main stages that include sending large quantities of medical supplies, foodstuffs and building materials, as well as teams of specialized doctors to help in treating the victims of the explosion.
