Sudan seeks to forge normal relations with U.S.

Khartoum (UNA-OIC) – President of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan has affirmed that his country looks forward to establishing normal relations with the United States to realize the interests of the peoples of both countries.

Al-Burhan made the remarks as he received visiting U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Samantha Power and her accompanying delegation in Khartoum on Sunday, in the presence of the American Chargé d’affaires.

The TSC chief called on the US to extend support for Sudan to make a success the transitional period, and hold transparent elections that consolidate democracy in the country. At the same time, he expressed Sudan’s appreciation of the US support during the past period.

Al-Burhan stressed Sudan’s keenness and readiness to open pathways to deliver humanitarian support to all refugees in the camps.

For her part, the USAID Administrator expressed her country’s keenness on doing justice as well as its desire to provide assistance to Sudan in all fields.
