Dushanbe, (UNA-OIC) – Tajikistan’s polling stations opened their doors today at 6:00 to receive citizen’s Presidential Election Ballots.
More than 3,375 polling stations are now open, and 39 are active abroad, according to the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda of the Republic of Tajikistan (CCER)
Five candidates are running for the presidential post.
Nearly 5 million Tajik are eligible to vote. The election will be recognized as valid if more than 50 percent of eligible voters cast their ballots.
More than 145 international observers from various international organizations are monitoring the election. In addition, the election will be covered by more than 267 local and foreign media representatives.
