UAE, Mozambique discuss aspects of bilateral cooperation

Maputo (UNA-OIC) – The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the UAE to Mozambique, Khalid Ibrahim Abdul Aziz Shuhail Al Qahtani, met with the Minister of the Sea, Inland Waters and Fisheries, Augusta de Fatima Charifo Maita, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Maputo.

During the meeting, the two parties discussed aspects of cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and Mozambique in areas of common interest.

Ambassador Al Qahtani stressed the importance of strong UAE-Mozambique relations and the promising opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in the maritime fields. He welcomed the participation of the Ministry of the Sea, Deep Water and Fisheries in Expo 2020 Dubai, considering this participation as an opportunity to showcase Mozambique’s products to global markets and attract investments.

For her part, Ms. Maita expressed the ministry’s desire to benefit from the experiences of the UAE in the various fields that the ministry is concerned with, especially in the field of fisheries. She noted the ministry’s preparations, in coordination with the private sector, to participate in Expo 2020 Dubai, to showcase Mozambique’s potential in the field of fisheries.

The minister also extended an invitation to the ambassador to participate in the 2nd Session of the Blue Economy Mechanism, to be held in Mozambique in November 2021.
