Washington (UNA-OIC) – US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced that the United States announced more than $436 million in additional humanitarian assistance to Syrians in Syria, neighboring countries and host communities, affected by 10 years of conflict.

In a statement on Tuesday, Blinken confirmed that this funding, which includes nearly $99 million in assistance to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, will support the provision of food, clean water, shelter, health care, nutrition, protection, education, and other forms of relief.

The Secretary expressed his gratitude to humanitarian partners across the region who continue to respond to this complex crisis under extremely difficult circumstances. He also encouraged other countries to join in providing essential humanitarian assistance to Syrians and their host communities.
