US Congress delegation begins Sudan visit

Khartoum (UNA-OIC) – Sudan’s Cabinet Affairs Minister Eng. Khalid Omer Yousif received at Khartoum Airport a US Congress delegation headed by Member of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee Christopher Cunz, accompanied by Senator Chris Van Hollen of Maryland.

The visit of the US Congress delegation to Khartoum aims to enhance the strategic and economic relations and cooperation between the two countries. The delegation is set to hold meetings with Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lt. Gen. Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, and Prime Minister Dr. Abdalla Hamdok, as well as a number of Sudanese ministers.

It is worth noting that Senator Kunz is concerned with support to Sudan and the transitional government and has sponsored the Sovereign Immunity Act for Sudan, which was presented in Congress last year, and under which the immunity was restored to Sudan after it was removed from the US list of State Sponsors of Terrorism.
