On October 12, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev cordially congratulated Emomali Rahmon on his convincing victory in the presidential elections and wished every success in his activities for the benefit and wellbeing of the fraternal people of Tajikistan.
Current aspects in further strengthening Uzbekistan – Tajikistan friendship, good neighborliness and strategic partnership were discussed during the conversation.
The sides noted the importance of timely practical realization of the agreements reached by the two leaders, the implementation of decisions of the Intergovernmental Commission and the elaboration of a new agenda for the forthcoming high-level meetings.
Views were also exchanged on issues of regional interaction.
Presidents welcomed the adoption of Joint Statement by the Heads of State of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan on the situation in the Kyrgyz Republic.
Following the conversation, the parties underlined shared commitment to the development of long-term and full-scale cooperation between the two countries.
The dialogue took place in a traditionally warm, open and friendly spirit.
