What Zionism really wants

On November 29, 1947 the UN General Assembly adopted Resolution 181 (II) by 33 votes in favor, 13 against and 10 abstentions without consulting the native population of Palestine. It called for the partition of Palestine, with Jews 30% of the population getting 55% of the land. By 1949, over 600,000 Palestinians were landless with Israel occupying 77% of old Palestine.

This resolution is one of the most quoted and least read documents in the world. Defenders of Zionism and Israel often repeat the claim that this resolution was accepted by the Zionist but rejected by the Arabs.

The Palestinians should have accepted it, we are told, but because of their refusal to compromise their land and accept partition, they lost the War and all their rights. They should not complain now: they had their chance for an equitable solution and they missed it.

The text of the resolution takes up 27 pages. Those who take the trouble to read the actual text will discover that Israel has adopted, at its convenience, one element of the resolution but rejected all the others. The only element of the partition plan accepted by Israel, was that calling for the establishment of a Jewish State.

The other elements which have never been accepted by Israel, include:

The main aim of Zionism was and still is “the elimination of the Native Palestinian people as contenders for, and even as inhabitants of, the same, territory, and the denial of their rights to an independent state.” (FLAPAN, 1987.PG 49)

Other dastardly actions, not forgetting the massacre of hundreds at Jenin refugee camp, include Israeli tanks crushing all Palestinian vehicles, soldiers emptying the fridges in Palestinian houses and destroying their furniture and appliances before pulling out.

The destruction, death and havoc caused by the Jewish state during its latest ‘operation’, as well as other previous massacres such as ‘Deir Yassin ‘, ‘Sabra / Shatila’, ‘Qana’, etc, will certainly haunt them in years to come.
